Draft water resource plan amendment

On 9 July 2008, the Minister for Natural Resources and Water released the Pioneer Valley draft Water Resource Plan amendment and overview report. The draft amendment contains proposals that will bring the groundwater resources of the catchment and the surface water resources of Sandringham and Alligator Creek catchments into the Pioneer Valley water resource plan.

Submissions to provide comment on the draft plan closed in September 2008.

Resource operations plan

The current Pioneer Valley Resource Operations Plan (PDF, 501 kB)* came into effect in June 2007. The plan was amended to:

• include proposed critical water supply arrangements and associated changes to water sharing rules
• change the water year for the Eton Water Supply Scheme
• update monitoring and reporting arrangements
• remove transitional provisions that are now no longer required
• clarify requirements for dealing with applications to subdivide and amalgamate water licences
• correct minor errors, ambiguities and omissions that were identified.

The plan amendment has been finalised following a period of consultation and review that began with the release of a draft amendment in January 2007.  The amended plan is known as the Pioneer Valley Resource Operations Plan June 2007 (reprint 1 of June 2005). You can request a copy of the superseded Pioneer Valley Resource Operations Plan, June 2005 from the Pioneer Valley WRP coordinator.

Water resource plan

The Pioneer Valley Water Resource Plan was released in December 2002, following consideration of submissions on the draft plan. The plan provides for the area’s social, economic and environmental interests.
