Water resource plan amendment

In December 2007, amendments to the Plan were made under sections 50 and 56 (4) of the Water Act 2000. The Water Resource (Mary Basin) Amendment Plan (No.1)  (listed as item 343) provides for

• Administrative changes to reflect existing operating arrangements in the Lower Mary River Water Supply Scheme by transferring responsibility for operating and managing parts of the scheme from SunWater to Maryborough City Council by creating a new Water Supply Scheme.
• Amendments to the annual volumetric limits for licences granted to Rainbow Shores Pty Ltd, without increasing the total volume of water taken
• Inclusion of water allocation security objectives (WASOs) for the Wide Bay Water Supply Scheme.

The plan amendment was prepared following consideration of submissions on the draft plan amendment. The consultation report (PDF, 243 kB)* addresses submissions received on the draft plan amendment.

Water resource plan

The minister released the Water Resource (Mary Basin) Plan (listed under the Water Act 2000) in July 2006, following consideration of submissions on the draft WRP. Explanatory notes (PDF, 325 kB)* accompany the plan.
