The Department of Natural Resources and Water monitors the implementation of water resource plans. The water resource planning process is designed to plan for the allocation and sustainable management of water to meet Queensland's future water requirements.

Unallocated water
Unallocated water is water that it is technically possible to make available for future use without compromising the environment or the supply to existing water users.
