Curriculum resource
The Water: Learn it for life! curriculum resource provides early and middle years teachers with an engaging series of lesson plans and activities addressing the following key elements of water education:
- the water cycle
- water conservation
- water sources and storage
- water efficiency
- water recycling and alternative water sources.
The materials are organised into four year-level groupings—Preparatory to Year 1, Years 2–3, Years 4–5 and Years 6–7, and can be readily adapted for use in a school’s existing curriculum framework.
The supporting material, Background information for teachers, includes all the information required to confidently deliver the lessons and activities.
The PrimaryConnections 5 Es Teaching and Learning Model (PDF, 123 kB)* has been used to organise and structure the lessons within each unit. An additional component has been added to this model to encourage students to take action as a result of their learning.
The curriculum resource can be downloaded from this website. You can also order a CD-ROM version of the resource online.
