Historical monitoring data - Watershed
The surface water data archive of the Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW) includes gauging station information, streamflow data summaries and chemical analyses of water samples.
- Flow summary information is based on data recorded and calculated by the NRW’s hydrographic staff.
- Water quality information is based on chemical analyses (of samples collected by NRW’s hydrographic staff) carried out in the laboratories of Queensland Health Scientific Services .
NRW conducts field measurements of various water quality parameters, collects water samples at gauging stations for analysis, and collects the following data from flow monitoring sites:
- stream gauge height and water quality information from automatic recorders (time series data)
- gauged flow rates (streamflow measurements)
- surveyed cross-sectional information.

Site selection
Select the site number or the stream name from the alphabetical list of monitored streams.Sites are numbered as follows:
Flow monitoring sites: 123456A where 1 represents the drainage division, 23 is the river basin number, 4 is the sub-basin number, 56 is the next available number in the basin when the site was established, A is a code indicating relocation of a site. Sites begin at location A and the character increments with each change of location.
When a flow monitoring site has been re-located the data from all previous locations has been included in the flow data summary calculations.Miscellaneous sites: 1234567 where 123 is the river basin number, 4 is the sub-basin number, 567 is the next available number in the basin when the site was established.
