Vegetation management offsets

In certain circumstances, vegetation offsets provide a mechanism for development to proceed while ensuring the long-term conservation of remnant regional ecosystems.

A Department of Environment and Resource Management's Policy for vegetation management offsets (PDF, 208 kB)* came into effect on 23 August 2007, and was amended on 28 September 2007 to correct minor errors. Under this policy, offsets are a means of meeting relevant performance requirements of an applicable code (such as a regional vegetation management code) under the Vegetation Management Act.

Previous offset policies are now superseded.
