Financial assistance
The Queensland State Government is providing $170 million over five years to help landholders affected by the changes in tree clearing laws. The funding is divided into three areas.
A $12 million incentives program
The Vegetation Incentives Program was designed to financially support landholders who maintain and manage native vegetation including high value regrowth as part of their operations.
This program has been integrated with the Environmental Partnerships Scheme as part of the Queensland Government's contribution to the Blueprint for the Bush.
A $150 million structural adjustment package
The structural adjustment package was designed to help landholders develop their enterprises or relocate if the business is no longer viable.
Applications for this assistance closed 21 February 2007.
An $8 million best management practice program
The AgForward program helps landholders use information and tools which will assist in improving land management practices.
