Rural water use efficiency
Water is a vital commodity for all sections of the community, and the Queensland Government, through the Department of Natural Resources and Water, continues to support the Rural Water Use Efficiency Initiative (RWUE) by extending the established partnership between industry and government.
RWUE is a government/industry partnership which provides services to irrigators to help them improve water-use efficiency and adopt sustainable irrigation management practices. The two programs currently in place are:

RWUE resources
- Factsheets that have been developed by RWUE over the past few years, as well as relevant factsheets developed by other agencies are arranged by topic and cover issues of interest to Queensland irrigators.
- The water use efficiency database can be searched for abstracts of references to research on irrigation issues relevant to Queensland conditions and rural industries. Full-text copies of these documents are available to Queensland landholders through their local RWUE extension officer.
- Case studies present local growers' experience with new irrigation systems and practices.
- Current statistics on water use in the Queensland rural sector.
- Links to other useful and interesting websites.
