Key services of this area are keeping a reliable and accessible register of land and recording transactions lodged. Common transactions include transfers, leases, mortgages, releases, plans of survey, deceased estates, name changes, resumptions and easements.

Customer enquiries service

This statewide telephone enquiries service provides assistance with:

  • information needed to complete and lodge land registry forms
  • current changes and expected processing times
  • explanation and interpretation of registry information.

The enquiries service does not extend to legal advice, for which a legal practitioner should be consulted.

Lodgement centres

During office hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday), lodgements are accepted at departmental offices in Beenleigh, Level 7 144 Edward St Brisbane City, Bundaberg, Caboolture, Cairns, Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Kingaroy, Mackay, Maryborough, Nambour, Rockhampton, Roma, Toowoomba and Townsville on payment of the required fee.

Searches of the registers

You can search the registers and obtain copies of the title of a block of land, and any dealing lodged or registered in the Registry. To do so, visit one of the Natural Resources and Water offices during office hours and pay the required fee.

You can carry out a search at the lodgement centres listed above and departmental offices at Atherton, Blackall, Charleville, Charters Towers, Cloncurry, Cunnamulla, Dalby, Emerald, Gatton, Gayndah, Goodiwindi, Hughenden, Innisfail, Kingaroy, Longreach, Monto, Mt Isa, and Warwick.

Searches of titles and copies of dealings are also available directly to your personal computer via the internet by using one of the Department approved public access providers.

Forms of payment

Lodgments may be paid for by:

  • cash
  • valid cheques
  • valid Australian currency traveller's cheques
  • valid money orders
  • EFTPOS—direct debit only and for amounts over $10. Credit facilities are not available for lodgement of documents

Searches of the land register may be paid for by:

  • cash
  • valid cheques
  • valid Australian currency traveller's cheques
  • valid money orders
  • EFTPOS - including credit cards (excluding Diners Club) for amounts over $10

Cheques or money orders are to be made payable to 'Department of Natural Resources and Water'.

Practitioners are notified of important emerging issues relating to land titles through the LIT Alert.
