Intensive grazing
Enterprise or production system
In this context, intensive grazing refers to smaller properties where pastures are generally improved. Typically, intensive systems require higher inputs, generate higher outputs per hectare and are associated with higher stocking rates. Animals raised under intensive grazing conditions can include beef cattle, goats, horses and less commonly ostrich, alpaca and deer. For the purposes of this guide dairy farming has been considered separately because it can be both an intensive grazing and an intensive animal production system.
