Enterprise or production system

The terms, farm forestry and agroforestry are used interchangably.  Both relate to the establishment or management of any type of forest on a farm in combination with other farming activities, e.g. cropping, beef cattle grazing, horticulture, bush foods, tea tree for oil, etc.  Methods of agroforestry and farm forestry can include: plantations and woodlots, tree belts, alley farming, wide spaced trees and native forest regrowth management. Farm forestery or agroforestry can serve a range of purposes: production of timber and fibre, sequestion of carbon, provision of stock shelter and wildlife habitat, conservation of native species and reduction of some land management problems, e.g. wind erosion.

Land practices associated with agroforestry may include:

• Native or remnant vegetation management
• Silviculture 
• Water management
