Further development and evaluation of the guide

As at 20 August 2005

The Land Manager’s Monitoring Guide was first published in October 2005 with an initial batch of indicators, a decision support tool and information on key monitoring principles.

The guide is a continually developing resource. Materials will be added to the site as they become available and the existing content will be updated through the evaluation processes detailed below.

The project team is working to a list of approximately 50 property level indicators identified for future development.  The next batch of indicator material scheduled for development will be decided following consultation with Regional Natural Resource Management Bodies, Industry Groups and the Project Reference Panel during late 2005.  Upon completion of these discussions the next batch of indicators to be developed will be published here.

Evaluation of the guide
User testing

GROWCOM and South East Queensland Western Catchments Group have been facilitating useablity testing of the guide.  The functionality of the online material is being examined and the first batch of indicator materials are being field tested.  The feedback from this process has been and will continue to be incorporated into the published materials.  All new content will undergo similar user testing before publishing.

Land manager trialling

It is anticipated that a network of land managers from across Queensland will contribute to the long-term trialling of the indicator materials.  Land managers will be invited to provide their feedback about the effectiveness and value of the tools in supporting land management practice via an online 'Get involved' page or by contacting the LMMG Project Team.

Value of data to others

The land manager trialling will be undertaken in association with at least three Regional Natural Resource Management Bodies and interested industry groups to evaluate how well the materials in the guide support the implementation of their regional plans and associated monitoring and evaluation activities.
