2008 NRW Natural Resources Conference
The 2008 Natural Resources Conference will be held in September at the Jupiters Townsville Hotel and Casino. The conference theme is ‘Perish or prosper: balanced management of North Queensland’s natural resources’.
2008 Suncorp Queenslander and Young Queenslander of the Year Awards
The Suncorp Queenslander and Suncorp Young Queenslander of the Year Awards are part of Queensland Week celebrations. The awards celebrate the achievements of individuals who have made their mark across a variety of fields, from the arts and community, to business, sport, science, education, medicine, charity and more.
2008 Queensland Greats Awards
The Queensland Government has launched the 2008 Queensland Greats Awards. These awards honour Queensland individuals and institutions whose ongoing contributions and achievements have played a significant role in the history and development of Queensland.
The calendar below lists events of relevance to natural resource management in Queensland. It has been compiled by the Department of Natural Resources and Water using information supplied by the event organisers. Please contact the relevant organisation for further information.

World Wetlands Day

World Wetlands Day is celebrated each year on 2 February to raise awareness of wetland values and benefits and the importance of conservation. A number of events are being held by government and community groups across Queensland.

World Water Day is held on 22 March each year to promote the importance of water. A number of local events are staged by government and community groups.
Earth Hour 2008

The Queensland Government is supporting Earth Hour, which aims to get as many businesses, households and individuals as possible to turn off their lights for one hour at 8.00pm, on Saturday 29 March 2008.
Water Efficiency 2008

The Australian Water Association's 3rd National Water Efficiency Conference will bring together experts to share knowledge of water efficiency.
Water Education Conference

This annual conference aims to facilitate networking, professional development and the sharing of ideas among water educators.

AgroTrend Field Days

AgroTrend is held in Bundaberg each year to promote products and services to a dedicated agricultural and horticultural audience.

NAIDOC Family Fun Day

The NAIDOC Family Fun Day is one of many events happening throughout NAIDOC Week 6-13 July 2008, which celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The national theme for 2008 is Advance Australia Fair.
Ag-Grow field days

Ag-Grow caters for a range of industries including beef, cotton, grain and horticulture as well as catering to the Central Queensland mining industry.
Queensland Spatial Industry Conference 2008

Themed Global Warning: What's Happening In Paradise?, this conference aims to identify the threat of climate change, present factual arguments, provide innovative methods of spatial analysis/monitoring and develop sustainable solutions.

AgShow is Queensland's largest agricultural and machinery field days event with over 700 exhibitors.
Queensland Landcare Conference 2008
Date: 21-24 September
Location: Monto
The 19th annual Queensland Landcare Conference will include more than 20 workshop topics such as rural mental health; sustainable living and gardening; peak oil and gas; climate change; and soil carbon. This year's theme is 'Sustainability by Design'.
