For students

Natural resources include the land, water, and vegetation. They need to be managed carefully to make sure they are still available for people in the future. We call this ‘sustainable’ use of our natural resources.

Through learning about the sustainable management of our natural resources, you can:

  • understand important issues which are being discussed in your community such as water conservation, soil erosion and land clearing
  • use what you learn to help you form opinions about how Queensland is managing its natural resources and to make decisions about how you, your family and your school use these resources
  • help find innovative solutions to meet today's resource management challenges such as the increasing demand on water supply and competing land-use needs
  • choose to take up a career in natural resource management in the future as a scientist, project officer or perhaps within management.

Finding information

To help you with your research, on this website you can find:

  • fact sheets about land, water and vegetation management and aboriginal cultural heritage
  • a database of publications on these topics.
