The NRW Multicultural Action Plan 2008-09 supports the government's Multicultural Queensland - making a world of difference policy.

The policy was released by the Premier in January 2005 and its objectives are to:

• improve our use of the range of skills and talents of our multicultural workforce
• increase employment opportunities
• maximise the economic benefits of cultural diversity, particularly in education, tourism and trade
• improve the responsiveness of government services to cultural diversity
• develop a greater awareness and acceptance of multiculturalism.

The 2008–09 action plan builds on the work of the 2006-09 action plan by developing greater awareness of the multicultural nature of the department’s work. Consequently, it defines ways to respond more effectively to the community through policies, programs, services and employment practices.

The implementation of this plan will be reported on annually.

The strategies and actions contained in this plan will be implemented through our Strategic Plan and our supporting business plans.
