Director-General's message

Scott Spencer - Director-General

Scott Spencer
Director-General

How we manage Queensland’s natural resources today will directly affect the liveability and future prosperity of the state.

The Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW) works together with industry, community, landholders and government to ensure that the management of the state’s natural resources is innovative, responsible and balanced.

The department handles some of the most complex issues confronting the state including water, salinity, vegetation management, native title, resource security and sustainable development.

Its staff have expertise and commitment to working with our stakeholders—the community, landholders and industry—to balance the needs of today with the needs of tomorrow.

Our agenda includes implementing water security, planning and reform; delivering on the historic Blueprint for the Bush strategy; using cutting-edge technology to better deliver land information; and working with landholders to preserve and enhance our landscapes.

The department is improving its ability to address cross-cutting issues affecting multiple resources, to develop policy in a strategic way, to connect policy making with implementation, and to develop innovative solutions.

Natural resources are important to the prosperity of our state and the lifestyle of all Queenslanders. NRW is delivering on priorities and working with the community to effectively and responsibly manage our resources for today and tomorrow.

Director-General
